“Hat Trick” is a dark comedy about a grieving magician navigating the loss of her legendary father as she performs her first show without him at a bizarre children’s birthday party. This is Tess & Noah’s directorial debut.
Tess Lafia & Noah Deats are a writing/directing duo from Los Angeles, CA.
They met in 2017 at Art Center College of Design and have been collaborating ever since, with Tess directing and Noah shooting.
Tess and Noah are fascinated by the absurdities of life, often focusing on dysfunctional family dynamics while finding humor in their darkest moments.
Their debut short film, "Hat Trick” is slated to hit the festival circuit in 2025. They are currently in pre-production on their second short film, “Panties”.
Tess and Noah married in 2023 and share their home with their two dogs,
Marty & Moonie, and their little crazy cat, Mazzy Star.
